Recognition Comes From Him

Are you driven by the desire to have fame? Is being put on a pedestal and being admired by fellow men important to you? I hope not. In John 15:18, Jesus says "“If the world hates you, know that it has hated me before it hated you." When we strive to become loved by those who do not love the Lord, we will more often than not deny Christ. Just as Peter did when he was asked by those standing around the fire when his Lord was arrested, we will often fall into this trap. 

Instead, let us remember Psalm 62:5 "My expectation is from Him." This Psalm should be our cry and our desire. God is your rock and your salvation. People are fickle. They may love you one day, and curse you the next. But God's mercy is immeasurable, as Psalm 5 says. He gives great promises. And you know, maybe you won't receive the recognition you deserve in this life. Maybe those who hate God and His people will ruin your reputation. But God will uphold your reputation, if not in this life, definitely the next. 

"Be strong and of a good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of them: for the LORD thy God, he it is that doth go with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee." ~ Deuteronomy 31:6 Now that's a promise I can hold to.
